Thanks to DOGE, the Trump administration ordered federal agencies to pause the disbursement of $11.4 billion in loans and grants to community health department. As a result of those cuts, 50 vaccination clinics were closed in Texas and over 20 public health workers were laid off.The timing could not be any worse for the people of Texas, as the state’s Department of State Health Services has already identified 422 measles cases since January. 42 patients have been hospitalized and one child has died.
Nationally, there have been three separate outbreaks with cases in 20 different states. The total number of confirmed cases so far is 483, a number that is certain to rise as vaccination becomes more difficult to obtain.
It’s, of course, not a coincidence that the MAGA movement would go after the funding for vaccination clinics because Trump’s aggressively anti-science Health Secretary RFK Jr. has been an outspoken critic of vaccination.
This is what happens when you elect crackpots and crooks to run your government. They run rampant looting and slashing and implementing their insane beliefs — and then innocent people end up dead.
